Whelp, this was interesting. I need to work on my barren landscapes with architecture involved. Really barren stuff in general.
On this planet, most of the water is held in expansive ravines- in the form of a poisonous gas that is totally useless to settlers on the planet. The local populace, instead of heading for better locales, decided to erect giant towers to convert the poison gas into water vapor. Then, using collected condensation and a gaseous bio-matter, the settlers send out beetle-drones to cover the landscape with new life.
